Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to develop a comprehensive knowledge management model grounded in Islamic values and sources for Hamedan Province Gas Company.

Methodology: This applied study employed an exploratory qualitative design. The participants comprised 12 academic, seminary, and gas-industry experts with relevant expertise in management, knowledge management, and Islamic sources, who were selected through purposive sampling until theoretical saturation was achieved. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis based on Braun and Clarke’s six-stage procedure, including familiarization with the data, generation of initial codes, searching for themes, reviewing themes, defining and naming themes, and producing the final report. Member checking, peer review, and comparison of the extracted codes with authoritative sources were applied to enhance the credibility and trustworthiness of the findings.

Findings: Qualitative analysis yielded 95 initial codes, 11 subthemes, and seven main themes. The main themes were “Ethics and Human Responsibilities in Knowledge Management,” “Evaluation, Monitoring, and Continuous Improvement,” “Knowledge Management Processes and Implementation Tools,” “Social and Cultural Processes in Knowledge Management,” “Foundations and Principles of Islamic Knowledge Management,” “Innovation, Development, and Organizational Progress,” and “Support, Enhancement, and Optimization of Knowledge Management Systems.” The final model integrated these seven dimensions with a five-stage knowledge process derived from Islamic sources, comprising silence and discernment, knowledge acquisition, knowledge retention, knowledge application, and knowledge dissemination.

Conclusion: The proposed model conceptualizes Islamic knowledge management as more than a technical organizational process; rather, it represents a multidimensional, ethics-oriented, culturally embedded, and value-based system. Integrating principles such as trustworthiness, justice, responsibility, rationality, learning, innovation, and service to society can strengthen organizational performance, facilitate the preservation and intergenerational transfer of tacit knowledge, improve productivity, and support the achievement of strategic objectives in public-sector organizations.
